ABOUT THIS WINE
After an extensive search high-and-low of Portugal, up stepped the Barrancoa. This is a wine style that you crave after hours of tasting big, chunky reds. It's not without its depth and concentration of fruit, nor its complexity of spice and savoury character, but its freshness leaves your palate wanting more. It gets this freshness from its sub-region of Alentejo, Vidigueira, where its sun-baked vines are freshened up by a bit of coastal influence. And then the fully manual process from vine to bottle ensures all of its character is preserved and on full show in the glass.
Paulo Laureano is a renowned Alentejo winemaker. In 2004, he was voted the best winemaker by the Portugese Revista de Vinhos. He works with Ribafreixo Wines promoting his own style and passion for winemaking. The results are wines that are a tribute to the Alentejo and specifically to Vidigueira.
"Enjoy the aroma of fresh plums, blueberries and spices. Smooth, fresh, with elegant tannins in the mouth." - Paulo Laureano, Winemaker.
